Introduction
The aim of this scheme is to assist employed and self-employed persons attending one of Jobsplus courses and whose weekly wage does not exceed €300 (basic) per week. Jobsplus offers training courses in various areas including Maltese and English language courses, computing and digital skills, trade, technical, accounting, clerical work, care services, green skills and entrepreneurship courses. Employed individuals following these courses can benefit from a financial grant of €25 per week provided that they attend a minimum of four hours of training per week. The grant is given to an individual upon successfully completing the course. This grant is also applicable for Jobsplus’ courses that have no assessments. Payment is based on the hours an individual attends and the duration of the course. Persons who terminate or drop out of the course, and/or have absences, which preclude them from sitting for the final assessment (where applicable), are not eligible to claim this allowance.
Eligibility criteria
- Weekly wage does not exceed €300 (basic) per week;
- Participants must attend a minimum of four hours of training per week;
- Applicants may be on full and/or part time employment whilst attending the course;
- Participants must successfully complete the course (in the case of courses with no assessment successful completion means attended at least 80% of the course).
Interested individuals may submit their application form online within 60 days from course’s end date. Applicants will be requested to upload the three most recent payslips relative to the course’s end date or latest profit and loss accounts in the case of self-employed persons. In case of more than one job, the applicant is to submit the three most recent payslip for each job.
In those instances where certificate is not yet issued, individuals must still apply within these 60 days’ timeframe. Such applications will remain on hold until certificate is issued.
Applicants must submit an application per course attended. In those instances, where an applicant attends more than one course that is delivered over the same period, applicant is to submit one application for the course with the longest duration. Example: Course A starts on 12th January and ends on 12th March and course B is held during the first two weeks of February. In this case applicant is to apply for course A only.
If on the other hand, an applicant attends two courses and only part of the courses overlap, then applicant can apply for both courses. However the training allowance for the first course will be paid in full (subject to meeting all terms and conditions), while for the second course it will be partial. Example: Course A starts from 12th January till 12th March and course B starts on 12th February and runs until 12th April. In this case training allowance for course A will be full and for course B it will cover from 13th March till 12th April.
